» 1-18-08Of course everytime anything new is found, the people at unfiction forums tear it apart looking for clues to other sites, which usually turn out to be made by fans or completely unrelated. This time it appears they're on to something.
Dr. Awkward googled "kaitei no mitsu" (one of the ingredients if the recipe in my last post...which Lasher pointed out actually translates to something like "seabed nectar" rather than "deep sea crab") and found this restaurant review which seems to be related (and was posted last week, so before the recipe was added to 1-18-08.com). Iconsumer also found a couple of other reviews by the same review (Vernon MacDooble) on other sites here and here, which seem to be unrelated.
The mention of Tagruato in that first review led MrToasty to discover Tagruato.jp, which definitely seems legit (it was registered over two months ago). Slusho is a subsidiary of Tagruato, and the C.E.O. of Tagruato is none other than Ganu Yoshida. There's a lottt of info on this site (which interestingly can only be accessed by choosing English from the main page...the other languages aren't functional). Have fun looking through it. Also, Dr. Awkward called the number on the contact page and got a recording in Japanese and then in English (I assume they said the same thing, but my Japanese is minimal): Thank you for calling Tagruato, due to high call volumes we have transfered your call to the automated answering service. There are NO UPDATES at this time. Please leave us a message and we will return your call.
Also, I find it hilarious that Tagruato's little league team is called The Lions. They must be huge.

» 1-18-08There's a 6th photo on 1-18-08.com. Very strange. There's no timestamp. Random Japanese chef. Not sure if this is the same asian guy from the teaser (who I'm pretty sure is Korean, not that that matters).
Thanks to hinoai at unfiction for translating the recipe on the back:Everybody, thank you for viewing! I’ll introduce this week’s delicious recipe. Please make sure to keep this one cold!
* Skinless chicken breast - 2, cut in halves
* Sōmen noodles - 10 oz.
* Watercress - 1/2 cup cut into small strips
* Turnip - 1/2 cup, thinly sliced
* Shiitake Mushrooms - 1/2 cup
* Chicken stock - 1/3 cup
* Sake - 2 tbsp.
* Sugar - 1/2 tsp.
* Deep-sea crab - one
In a small saucepan, stir together 1/3 cup water, chicken stock, sake, and sugar. Chill it until it becomes cold. Grill the chicken breast on both sides for about 8 minutes, and then chill. Boil the noodles for about 3 minutes, and then run under cold water until chilled. Mix the watercress, turnips, and mushrooms into the sōmen. Slice the chicken thinly and arrange on top of the sōmen mix. Just before you serve, put the crab in the sauce and pour over the noodles generously.

Tearing apart the teaser again
» 1-18-08Obviously news has been very slow lately, but here's something to do if you haven't lost interest already. It was recently discovered that the 1080p teaser on apple.com contains 6 separate layers of audio. Nothing all that important seem to be hidden in there, but I found it very interesting to hear the teaser from different angles and you can definitely hear more snippets of dialogue in some of the layers that were previously hidden by special effects or noise. CloverfieldClues has extracted each layer of audio into separate mp3s (as well as a few snippets of dialogue). I'm surprised nobody thought to do this earlier...I actually assumed someone tried and the layers weren't different, but obviously they are. But you know what they say when one assumes...
Also, very strange and probably an irrelevant joke or coincidence, but when the Statue of Liberty head hits the corner of 401 Broadway, a cuckoo clock sound can be heard. Use headphones and turn your volume all the way up to hear it. I didn't believe it at first, but sure enough, it's there, and very audible...it's not another "IT'S A LION" thing, I assure you. I just listened for the sound on each channel separately, and on the third and fourth ones (left surround and right surround) you can hear it's actually part of a girl sobbing (which does sound very much like a cuckoo clock). Again I wonder why people didn't try separating the channels earlier when they were using noise filters to clean up the cuckoo sound.

» 1-18-08Well it looks like they were updating the site and that's why it was down temporarily last night. Now when you open up 1-18-08.com, if you leave the page open for 5 to 10 minutes, the monster roars. Perfectly timed to go off the instant you forget about it. If you don't feel like waiting the 6 minutes you can hear it here (thanks to unfiction forums user mhovis for decompiling it).

» 1-18-081-18-08.com now redirects to Paramount.com (though you can still see the photos by going here). Maybe they're planning a major update. Maybe they've finally decided on an official title and are working on getting that site up. Maybe they changed the release date so "1-18-08" no longer means anything. Who knows? I'll keep you guys posted.
ETA: Well that only lasted a few hours, it's back to normal now. False alarm?

SPOILERS: Call sheet and footage of possible ending
» 1-18-08Unfiction forums users nooneimportant77 got these pictures and videos from the set Monday night. Most of these are from the scene shot under the bridge in Central Park.
WARNING: Spoilers follow, possibly for the film's ending.
He was told by people on the set that he was infringing copyrights by taking these. I'm not a lawyer, but as this was being filmed in public, I'm fairly sure nooneimportant 77 owns the copyrights to these images and video, NOT Paramount. So tough noogies guys...if you didn't want these posted, you shouldn't have made this project so secretive.
Now, Paramount DOES own the rights to the call sheet posted by New York Magazine, so I can't post it here directly. However, I have no problem linking to the PDF. Apparently Paramount's legal team has sent C & D letters to /Film and Cloverfield Clues asking them to remove the call sheet. Which is amusing since Cloverfield Clues only linked to the NYMag article and didn't reproduce, display, or distribute it. I encourage anyone reading this to save the PDF as it's only a matter of time before they force NYMag to remove it. If any representatives from Paramount come across this site, save your energy, because I'm not posting anything here that isn't within my legal rights to do so and I will not be removing any of this.
Many are speculating that the call sheet is fake or a plant, and if it was, it would still be infringing on Paramount's copyrights, so their C & D letters don't confirm it to be legit. However, having been on the set myself, I can confirm most of the shooting locations as well as the vehicles and art department info listed on the sheet and nooneimportant77's videos confirm some the scene descriptions listed, so is most likely legit, despite speculation that it's a plant by National Lampoon. That doesn't mean they couldn't have put false or misleading information on it, but it's probably not a fake call sheet. Assuming there wasn't false information planted on the sheet, it was day 33 out of 33 days of shooting, and the shooting has wrapped, though I would like to point out that this could just mean production has wrapped on "Cheese" in New York, so this doesn't mean they aren't continuing to film under a different production title or in a different location.

All of this does possibly give away major plot points. From the party, the group runs north until they reach Central Park, where the film apparently ends. The absence of other characters in these scenes indicates that they most likely died by about two-thirds into the film. Since we already know the film supposedly starts with a cleanup crew discovering the tape, it's very likely that everyone dies. It looks like Rob and Beth are the last to die, under the bridge, so the videos above show their death scene.

More set photos
» 1-18-08Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get too many photos from the set (and none during the actual filming) as the P.A.'s wouldn't let us anywhere near it. I have a feeling that's because of nooneimportant77 getting video of the supposed ending filmed earlier that night. Apparently they told him he was infringing their copyrights and whatnot. Which is bullshit, since they were filming in public. Really, if they weren't trying to be so secretive about this thing, nobody would care. It was still fun checking out the set though. We saw where they were filming under the bridge in Central Park, but we didn't get there until they'd already wrapped and were cleaning up. We were able to check out the set on Central Park South as they were setting up there and throwing the fake rubble around, but they kept moving us farther and farther away from the set before they started shooting until we were so far away we could barely see a thing (and definitely couldn't get any pictures). After they wrapped on that street and moved to shoot on 6th Avenue, I was able to get shots where they had just been filming (the rubble and cars covered in dust below). Of course, I filled my bag with fake bricks, concrete, and asphault...I'm debating whether or not I should sell some of it on eBay. We signed our names in the dust on the cars (so no, that won't be seen in the film unfortunately). We tried to watch them filming on 6th Ave (Rob and I believe Jason and Lily were there), but again we were told we had to leave (and one of the PA's had the nerve to follow us a few blocks to make sure we left...we named him Captain Douchebag). Without further ado, here are my photos.
After we started writing things on the cars, we noticed someone had already beaten us to it. It's possible these people worked on the set, but they could have just been random passersby.
I did get shots of the license plates, but I'm not going to post them since they appear to be actual registered NY plates (the cars had registrations in the windows) and I'm sure they're completely irrelevant. I'll make another post shortly with nooneimportant77's images/video and the call sheet floating around as they contain spoilers.
Also, it appears shooting has wrapped, at least in New York, but I did see signs nearby for another film going by the title "The Ride" also filming this week. It could be unrelated, but they were VERY close to the Cheese shoots, so it's possible they're just continuing under another fake title. I haven't been able to find any info either way.

Now, I knew the budget was low, but I had no idea it was this low. Apparently it is, in fact, a lion. But it's not very huge at all.
Jaykay, obviously. These are from the set though, but the lion is mine. Serious post to come later...I'm still stuck at work.

Central Park Filming
» 1-18-08Well, I've returned from my excursion. There was actually a LOT of filming taking place last night with lots more to take place the rest of the week (though I won't be able to go to those). Before I write my report I'd like to point out that there were notices nearby (54th St. between 5th and 6th Aves if I recall correctly) for a film going by the project name "The Ride" that's filming today from 6am to 8pm, so someone might want to check that out and see if it's in fact the same movie, which would mean that's yet ANOTHER codename for this film. I haven't slept since yesterday, so I'm going to need to get some rest before I post what I have, which isn't much (they weren't letting anyone very close to the two locations they were filming while I was there), but in the meantime, check out this report from /Film...unfiction forums user nooneimportant77 got some pretty great video of a scene that was shot earlier that night (I didn't get there til they were packing up). However, they're a bit spoilerish, so consider yourself warned. I'll rehash his findings when I post my pictures..it seems we're learning a bit more about this film, though it's beginning to head into spoiler territory.

» 1-18-08They're filming again tomorrow night in NYC on 6th Avenue between 56th St and Central Park (under the production title "Cheese" again). Thanks to ScottBrosius at unfiction forums for this picture as confirmation. If I can get off work I'll be stalking the set overnight, but I'm not sure I'll be able to.
Update on the Slusho store, customer service has finally been answering e-mails (and they don't seem to be breaking character either). They still haven't shipped out any orders and aren't explaining why, but they've been assuring customers they'll be shipping soon. Apparently the disappearing charges were just to check authorization and they should reappear once they actually ship the merch out. Hopefully that'll be this week. I'm still disappointed though...if I do manage to visit the set tomorrow night I would liked to have worn my Slusho shirt and pretended to be part of the crew.
ETA: I managed to get off work so hopefully I'll be able to go. If any of my readers are gonna be there, if you see a dude with stretched earlobes and a lip ring, that'd be me. Don't be afraid to say hi, I'd love to meet some of you.

Just some brief updates.
» 1-18-08The Slusho store has seemingly canceled orders for everyone I've spoken to that ordered from them. They're also not answering any e-mails to customer service. Though I would like to point out that everone I've spoken to ordered on the first day. If anyone has ordered from the site since August 1st (when they canceled the charges to everyone's credit card/paypal account) please let me know if you've been having similar issues. However, even if it looks like your order was canceled, I'd advise against reordering until we know more (or customer service gets back to someone), otherwise you could end up being billed twice.
Three new posters have been circulating since yesterday. They're fake. It's bad enough with all the fake "official" sites and gamejackers, now we have to deal with "news" blogs making up info and masquerading speculation as fact. Pathetic really.
Also, I'd like to thank Pixagi from Famous Last Words Entertainment for her immense help editing and cleaning up 1-18-08 Pedia. This wiki should prove to be very useful for anyone new to 1-18-08 needing to catch up. It could still use some work, though, so if you want to help out with this project (especially if you have experience editing Wikipedia), contact me and I'll let you know what work needs to be done there.

Slusho filming in NYC under the production title "Cheese."
» 1-18-08They're filming in NYC as we speak on the Lower East Side on the corner of Stanton and Orchard and between Rivington and Delancey. Apparently they started filming a few hours ago and will "probably" be there all night. Strangely, the production title they are using for the shoot is "Cheese." Crew members have been seen wearing Slusho T-shirts (the same ones sold on slusho.jp) with passes that say "Chocolage Outrage" (on of the Slusho flavors). I'm sending my own spy out there now, but Cloverfan at unfiction forums has taken many pictures and video already. In the last video below you can see what looks to be Mike Vogel and one of the actresses from the teaser (Odette Yustman?) Director Matt Reeves is also present as noted by his director's chair with the Slusho logo. Michael Bonvillain looks to be the cinematographer (as he was for Lost, Felicity, and Alias).

Casting news: Greg Grunberg
» 1-18-08Michael Ausiello of TV Guide reports:One movie that Abrams is casting Grunberg in is the buzzerific disaster flick known only by its myriad working titles (i.e., Cloverfield, 1-18-08, Slusho). "It'll probably be something where no one will be able to tell it's me," he said. "As you know, J.J. calls me his good-luck charm, so he's got to put me in there somewhere. I actually went to the set the other night, and it was really exciting and cool. The budget is not astronomical. But they're doing incredible things."
No surprise there. I was looking for him in the trailer when it came out. I knew he had to at least have a cameo.

Monstrous
» 1-18-08In case you haven't seen it by now, a poster with the Statue of Liberty missing it's head was spotted by a couple of people at Frank & Son's in CA. Unfiction forums user Onikage posted a couple of photos taken with a cell phone. Supposedly the date 1-18-08 is stamped in the corner, but it's hard to make out. I was waiting for something to confirm this before posting, and I'm still not convinced it's legit, but since TheMonstrousMovie.com was seemingly registered by Paramount in early June (a month before the teaser) so it very well could be. Keep in mind that even if the poster is legit, Monstrous might not be the title. I suppose we'll find out by the end of the week from people attending Comic-Con since Abrams is supposedly going to release the title of the film there.
For those of you who can't attend Comic-Con, G4 will be covering the event this Thursday and Friday at 7pm ET. Cloverfield: What We Know So Far swung by Frank & Son's yesterday and saw a notice that G4 filming for the Comic-Con preview show there, probably Wednesday since the shop itself is only open on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

» 1-18-08Here's some footage shot by someone who lives on the street in LA where Slusho was filming a few weeks ago. You can clearly see the fake Sephora I posted last week. Thanks to Dennis at CloverfieldClues.com for sending this my way.
In related news, a reliable source tells me that filming for Cloverfield has wrapped in NYC. However, it's possible that they could still be filming under another fake title. As far as I know, the scenes filmed in Coney Island in Brooklyn were the only scenes filmed in NYC (that actually featured actors), though it's possible Roma Torre's news reports were filmed elsewhere in the city.

Scouts needed. Old news, not so much.
» 1-18-08I'm tired of people sending me links to obviously fake sites asking me if they're related or telling me they're positive they have to be related. Guess what? They're not. The ONLY legit sites so far are 1-18-08.com and Slusho.jp (or Slusho.com, which redirects to Slusho.jp). Any other sites you think are related are FAKE. If anything else legit is found I will report it. I honestly don't see that happening at least until Comic-Con in San Diego. I'm going to start deleting comments about unrelated websites as well as those from people who don't take the time to read the summarized info in the post stuck to the top of this page. There's plenty of other sites and forums you can use to recycle your old news...don't do it here. "It wasn't us! It was them! The Parasite!"
» 1-18-08From the NY Post:A few weeks ago, the movie was shot in Coney Island on the blocks contained by West Eighth Street, West 17th Street, Surf Avenue and the Boardwalk.
A small crew, including Abrams (co-creator of "Lost") and director Matt Reeves ("Felicity"), along with up-and-coming actors Blake Lively and Mike Vogel (both from "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants") came into the park with hand-held video cameras.
They shot several scenes at Deno's Wonder Wheel, a scary swinging Ferris Wheel in which patrons ride in cages as they look out over Brooklyn. They also went on the Scooter bumper cars, played some ticket-stub games in the arcade, and rolled some skee ball.
A member of the Vourderis family, owners of Deno's Wonder Wheel Park, gave authorization to the film crew to shoot there..
"It's about an alien that wipes out all of New York City," says one of the owners, who wants to remain anonymous. "The footage is taken the day before everyone dies. A bunch of kids come to Coney Island with a video camera. The movie is a flashback to that day."
It is reported that they have only a $30 million budget, not a heck of a lot for a monster movie.
They also filmed a few scenes in front of the now-defunct and chained-up B&B Carousell.
The crew steered clear of Astroland and The Cyclone, but shot some scenes on the Boardwalk by Nathan's and the booths selling hot buttered corn.
"They told me I could be in the movie," said Eric Gonzalez, an 18-year-old kid who plays the freak in the paintball game "Shoot the Freak."
"I wanted to be in it so bad and I gave them my number, and they never called. I got new shoes, a hat and a whole new outfit."
NY1 reporter Torre, on the other hand, was lucky to get plucked to star in the flick, and shot "a lot" more scenes than the one you see in the trailer.
"This whole thing was cloaked in mystery," Torre told The Post. "We weren't given any names. They made me sign a nondisclosure agreement, and I'm not supposed to talk about it."
"It was so mysterious that I had no idea that this was going to be a big-budget film or an independent type movie. So I was shocked to hear about the trailer and the buzz it's getting. I'm hearing from friends across the country. It's fun."
I wouldn't put much weight on what the anonymous owner said...the Post isn't a very reliable source (it reads more like a tabloid than a newspaper), but at least now we know another shooting location.

Apparently, it must have been filmed in March, because the Empire State Building (which is shown for only a few frames) had all three tiers lit green, which typically only occurs for St. Patrick's day (and more recently for Live Earth, but the teaser was released before that event). She explains the general area where the explosions take place and a possible location for the shoot. She also speculates as to the projected path of the parasite. Read her analysis here.

Roma Torre
» 1-18-08The Star-Ledger interviewed NY1's Roma Torre. That was in fact Ms. Torre giving the news report in the teaser.The project is so secretive, even the people who are featured in the teaser know little about the picture. NY1 news anchor Roma Torre makes a cameo appearance, delivering a simulated special report describing strange activity in the city.
When she shot her scene in late May, she was asked to ad-lib a newsflash about strange roaring sounds and midnight power outages. She signed an agreement not to disclose any further plot details. The pages of the script she received didn't name a writer or director.
Torre isn't sure whether she'll be in the actual film and she has yet to even see the preview.
She says, "My production manager was our intermediary with Paramount. They emailed the trailer to her, and it disappeared after she played it once. It was like 'Mission: Impossible.'"

Mystery St. is in New Orleans. This sign was at New Orleans Jazz Fest 2007. Obviously, someone working on the set must have been there, because the sign is too similar to the stickers on the fridge seen here. Is it significant? Probably not. But for now it remains a mystery....st. Sorry, had to.

» 1-18-08Here's the license plate from one of the vehicles hit by the Statue of Liberty's head (anyone know the make and model?) There's a website at abz3293.com with someone looking for the driver of an SUV with this license plate. Interesting, but most likely a fansite, as it was only registered today and it's published via WordPress.
A lot of people have been discussing what's on the fridge here. There are two stickers (one on the freezer door and one towards the top) that appear to say "Exit to Mystery St." I've blown up one of the stickers for a better look. Comment here if you see anything else interesting.
I'd also like to point out the "DEAD DEAD" spraypainted on the back of the sign in this photo. I'll try and get someone to visit this location and take photos and see if that's still there. There's also been a lot of talk about the size of the Liberty head, saying that it looks way too small. This photo on Wikipedia suggests it might not be off by much at all.
I'm not sure how relevant these are, but here's some graffiti from the scene on the roof. The first image looks to say "1987-2004 ace" and the second "crazy." It's probably nothing, but you never know with Mr. Abrams.
Also, there are three songs playing at the party in the teaser. I don't recognize the first, but the second is "The Way I Are" by Timbaland and the third is MSTRKRFT's remix of Wolfmother's "Woman."

Let's tear apart the teaser, shall we?
» 1-18-08First, check out Mike Vogel's Slusho T-shirt. Note that the image and font are exactly the same as found on the Slusho website (Slusho.com or Slusho.jp). Also, if you look closely at the t-shirt, underneath it you can almost read the slogan "You Can't Drink Just Six."
Other interesting things from the teaser. Here's a cap of the NY1 news report. It's 63 degrees at 12:32am. This almost completely proves that the film does not take place on January 18, 2008. I can't find documentation, but I'm fairly sure 63 degrees is close to the record high for NYC in January for the daytime. It has never, ever been this warm there at night this time of year. So unless the film starts off explaining a record-breaking heatwave in January, we can rule that theory out. So most likely, the date on the photos at 1-18-08.com are not meant to be the date the pictures were taken. Also, some people are speculating that the reporter is played by Roma Torre, an actual NY1 reporter who has been in a number of films playing news reporters. I couldn't find a decent picture for comparison, but I'm not sure it's her.
Previous reports mention actors being told by director Matt Reeves that they're supposed to be "seeing a giant foot stomp down." I lightened up several frames from the teaser and nothing is there to be seen. Of course, this could have just been the direction given, but not what's actually supposed to be happening. It's also possible that they haven't added CG for the monster in that scene yet (teasers are rarely examples of the finished product). Also, people have been saying this is the Empire State Building in this shot. It's not. I'm working on getting the actual location, but the tall building on the left in the background of the second photo looks to be the City Hall building.
Here you can see the Statue of Liberty's Head about to hit the side of 401 Broadway. That does look remarkably like the 401 Broadway building, so this might have been shot in NY afterall.
Here's a closer shot of the "We'll Miss You" banner. As you can see, the banner was made using photographs. Good luck trying to make out any of the faces. I would like to point out that at least one photo is used more than once (check out the first and second to last photos used to make the second S).
In this shot we can see a street map of Manhattan and a fraternity paddle from Alpha Kappa Mu. Mean anything? No idea. Get to work, guys.

» 1-18-08I've been analyzing the trailer all morning. Here's the cast that's been reported so far.
Michael Stahl-David as Rob:
IMDb still reports Rob as being played by Mike Vogel, but that is certainly not Mike Vogel. It looks like Michael Stahl-David to me.
Mike Vogel as The Guy in the Slusho T-Shirt:
I've seen Vogel in other films and I'm pretty sure this is him.
Odette Yustman as the "Rob, Have Fun in Japan" Chick:
Again, looks a lot like her to me.
Now, the other two supposed cast members are Lizzy Kaplan and Blake Lively. I'm not sure where Blake Lively came from...I haven't seen her mentioned in any reports...she just randomly showed up on IMDb. I'm told one of them is supposed to be the girl that asks, "What is this for?" and the girl that says "Rob's awesome! I'm gonna miss him." I can't tell which is which so I've attached Lizzy and Blake to both photos. Blake's photo is top-right and Lizzy's is bottom-right. Judge for yourself:
No reports as to who this guy is, but I find it amusing that they choose to place the Asian guy in front of several Oriental things.
Also no reports as to who this guy is, but does anyone else notice a striking resemblence to Danny Bonaduce? Jaykay.

Slusho Making Fresh Improvments. Just For You!!
» 1-18-08Now that all that Ethan Haas stuff is behind us here's a real lead. If you recall, I've previously reported someone working on the film claiming "The ID tags for the shoot on the trucks say, 'Slusho: You can't eat more than 6' and a drawing of a slurpee like drink." Well, check out this site: [www.slusho.jp] Note the "You Can't Drink Just Six" slogan at the bottom of the page.
And that's not all. Have you all watched the teaser that's now up at apple.com yet? Watch it again. Pay close attention to the guy (looks like Mike Vogel to me) that suggests "Think we can see something from the roof?" and what he's wearing. It's a Slusho t-shirt! The image on the shirt matches the image from slusho.jp. Finally something solid! If I have the time, I'll try and work on a detailed analysis of the trailer with screencaps.
I'm fairly sure we can consider this confirmation that the Paramount Pictures production going by the title Slusho filming in LA last week is in fact this same film better known as Cloverfield. Once again, if you have any more info on Slusho or Cloverfield, please send it my way.

» 1-18-08Still no solid confirmation as to whether or not Paramount Pictures' Slusho filming in LA last week is in fact Cloverfield. However, MOFTB (The Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre, and Broadcasting) lists Cloverfield among projects currently in production in New York City. I'll check with my own sources to see if I can't get a precise location or schedule as to when and where they're filming in NY.

» 1-18-08TrailerSpy reports receiving info supposedly from an actor working on the film. The source chooses to remain anonymous (for obvious reasons), but here's what he has to say:I'm working on this shoot, and even we don’t know what it is. Here is what we DO know however:
1) "some" inside source said something about us being on 6th/Main st in downtown LA, true; However, we did not do anything on a fire escape 8 floors up. Everything was shot street level… and nothing on any fire escape.
2) **edited out as it may expose "me" too much**
3) On a take in the scene you all saw (the trailer) at + 30 seconds after impact movie time, just a couple of us were told by Mr Reeves that we are seeing a giant foot stomp down (this is at the point where the tower explodes). Not Godzilla, but it is interesting…
4) Will the Military be firing? One of the Hummers in the downtown shoot had a 50cal mounted on the roof and the gunner was aiming up into the air down the block. He kept swiveling a bit here and there (as directed to do so), but if he is supposed to be firing, it will have to be CGI’d in later as not even blanks were being used. Not pertinent, but perhaps somewhere in the future of this, it will provide a better clue for us to solve this enigma.
Personally, I like that Ethan Haas thing…it kinda makes sense (to me at least) from some of the dialogue I’ve heard.
On one of the nights, the #1 principle was injured during a take and had to be taken for stitches to his head (10 stitches, if anyone is counting), as the other principles "watched" the camcorder playback of the "monster", some of the verbage they stated could lead to this ethan thing…at least in my head.
The only things we do know is that this is set to be Paramounts blockbuster for next year.. a blockbuster that opens in January is either bad timing or this thing will really set the world on fire. Judging by the amount of interest generated merely by an untitled trailer… I think paramount is onto something.
Would love to say more, but NDA is a bitch and I can only go as far as that…but to be honest, there really isn't a whole lot more to say.
If you want to see this being filmed on location(*s) and live in the LA area, just watch for the shoot direction signs labeled "Slusho".

wtf? Would love to hear people idea of what exactly that means???
This doesn't confirm that the Ethan Haas game is related, but it certainly keeps us from ruling it out just yet.

Slusho
» 1-18-08Several sources have reported a Paramount Pictures film with the working title "Slusho" being filmed in downtown Los Angeles last week. "Slusho" was a fictional slurpee-esque beverage offered to title character Sydney Bristow in the second episode of J.J. Abrams television series ALIAS.
IGN movies gives the following description:Exterior dialogue. Driving scenes. Occasional traffic & pedestrian control. Camera & equipment on sidewalk, street and property. 200 extras. Military vehicles. Destruction aftermath. Weapons brandished. Emergency vehicles with flashing lights. Exterior dialogue on fire escape on 8th floor.
Other reports I've read have described similar settings. It's very likely that Slusho is in fact the newest codename/working title for Cloverfield.

Ethan Haas
» 1-18-08There is as yet NO solid evidence linking the Ethan Haas ARG to Cloverfield and all of the evidence right now seems to link Ethan Haas to a game to be released in August, which is completely unrelated to the Cloverfield film. Several "news" sites are currently linking the two (without reason) and are obviously written by people who don' bother to check FACTS before reporting. Unfortunately, this only discredits them as reliable sources for other info, which is why so little about this film can be confirmed as facts.
