  themonstrousmovie.com registered by Paramount

  So thanks to a comment tip I was informed that www.themonstrousmovie.com was purchased by Paramount studios in June of this year. So looks like montrous could have something to do with the movie if its not the title. Theres nothing on the site now, but you can see the whois entry after the jump.

  UPDATE: We are aware that you can put any information you want in the whois information for a domain, so I guess it is possible that someone just registered this domain and used Paramounts info. Hopefully all these questions will be answered this week at Comic-con

  For those of you that are currently online you’ll have noticed that the design changed. Don’t worry, you didn’t break anything! For the past few days I’ve been trying to get up though I was getting severely distracted by my favorite mIRC channel, #slusho, and my boyfriend to accomplish it.

  If you notice any issue off the bat, let me know by leaving me a comment! There’s a few errors I forgot off hand (pages, navigation) and will be doing live-edits, do don’t worry if it breaks on you, only to fix itself later.

  Any complaints, compliments and critiques are welcome!

  1-18-08 / Cloverfield Picture and Video Clip Leaked

  These pictures were snapped with a Motorola V3 camera phone. I must say, this camera phone takes pretty shitty photos. Anyways, supposedly these images are of the Cloverfield movie poster. The movie name “Monstrous” appears at the top, and the image shows the Statue of Liberty without a head. Supposedly the individual who took these photographs snapped them at Frank & Son’s warehouse sale. I highly doubt these are the actual movie poster images and I highly doubt the movie name is Montrous. What do you think?

  The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms

  This came up in the chatroom and I hadn’t heard this theory yet, but it seems like a good one.

  Check this out from wikipedia:

  “As a result of an arctic nuclear test, a fictional carnivorous dinosaur known as the Rhedosaurus thaws out of the ice and starts making its way down the east coast of North America. It arrives in New York where it manages to destroy most of Coney Island before finally being killed.”

  The thawing out, definitely relates to the Slusho stuff, and obviously the New York stuff. And they were shooting stuff at Coney Island in the last week or 2. Damn, this sounds like a pretty good theory to me. It has more relevance than some of the other ones I’ve heard.

  Spy Photo: Cloverfield 1-18-08 Movie Poster?

  Some photos of what appears to be the theatrical teaser poster for JJ Abrams top secret monster flick which is code-named Cloverfield. The unfiction forum user took the pics with a Motorola V3 camera phone at Frank & Son’s warehouse sale. The poster depicts a headless statue of liberty overlooking New York City. The top of the poster has the text “MONSTROUS”. The lower right corner supposedly has the date “1-18-08″. We have no idea if this poster is real or fan created. There is also a third possibility, it could be a third party knock off which is trying to take advantage of the tremendous buzz. One thing is for sure, with Comic Con later this week, we’ll finally learn the name of movie. Let’s all pray it’s not “Monstrous”. It’s more than likely that Paramount printed up some mini teaser posters for the event like they did last year with Star Trek 11.

  Update: It appears that Paramount Pictures bought the domain name TheMonstrousMovie.com on June 8th. So the poster is probably real, although I still refuse to believe that “Monstrous” is the film’s title.

  Oh, who the hell knows - but IMDB is lit up with this bad boy nugget from Unforums: [forums.unfiction.com]. We have a maybe movie poster and a maybe title - MONSTROUS.
  
  The case they make is compelling, but then that may be the excitement from having something new to dissect. Discuss.

  Possible Title and Poster?

  Alright you guys be the judge of this one. Over at the unifiction forums, a user has claimed to see a poster that could be for “cloverfield/1-18-08″ or is the title actually MONSTROUS. The author said they saw the poster at a booth that sells collectors posters and such, its in between a transformers poster and something else 30 Days of Night poster. And at the top it says MONSTROUS and on the bottom right corner it says “1-18-08″ and the main picture is the statue of liberty missing it’s head with New York in the background. Seems pretty convincing to me, although I’m not sure if that is the title or just a tag line being used for the movie, check out the pictures below. They are extremely blurry due to being taken from a cell phone camera, but you can still make out most of the stuff.

  UPDATE: projectcloverfield thinks it’s a possibility that the poster is being sold at Frank and Son’s

  UPDATE 2: According to a few people the poster that used to be visible at Frank and Son’s has since been removed and in its place are posters advertising Comic-Con and G4…. Interesting.

  Possible 1-18-08 Movie Poster Leakage

  I’ve you’ve been lurking the Unfiction Forums like I have, you’ve come across a lot of crazy theories, rumors, guest posts and everything in between.

  The latest gem is that there is a possibility of a movie poster being sold at a shop in Southern California, Frank and Son’s.

  Guest goes on to write:

  Anyway, I was at a large booth where they sell movie posters. One of the posters there had a snapshot of the statue of liberty overlooking the city of new york. The statue was missing it’s head and at the top in large white letters it said “Monstrous”. The lower right corner had in smaller white letters, 1-18-08.

  So now the question is, could this possibly be a theatrical poster for the upcoming 1-18-08 movie? What do you guys think?

  Edit: As a commentator kindly reminded me about, there is a domain that has surfaced that relates to the Monstrous title in the possible movie poster.

  Paramount Pictures has registered themonstrousmovie.com.

  Cloverfield Chat Room

  Again, it probably won’t get too much use, but since I already run the chat room for another site of mine, www.sawtrilogy.com , which keeps you updated on all that is going on with the SAW horror movies, I figured I’d post it here so people can talk about Cloverfield there too. It’s basically just a general movies room so talk about whatever. It uses Meebo and anyone can access it after the jump.

  Filming Cloverfield Outside An Apartment

  Someone left this video in the comments a few days ago, but for some reason I was having trouble posting it from home. So apparently this guy was being kept up at night by some movie being filmed. After awhile he supposedly saw the signs that said something about a movie production being filmed called “Slusho”. It’s a little dark, but not a bad little clip this guy shot outside his apartment window, check it out.

  After reading some of he comments over at youtube, some people are questioning whether or not this is actually part of the viral marketing for the movie. They only ask because the little video is heavily edited very similarly to the trailer actually, running outside/to a different location and filming with a handheld, etc. But ask yourself this, would a major movie studio post something like this up on youtube under the screen name “ask a wetback”, i think not.
